The key to finding the right pitcher might come down to how much you trust early-season stat splits. Both the Dodgers and Giants have struggled against lefties this year (despite San Francisco’s solid showing against Clayton Kershaw last night), so both Alex Wood and Matt Moore are in play in their head-to-head matchup. The Royals have really struggled against lefties, making Jose Quintana a fine choice. On the flip side, the White Sox have been among the best teams against southpaws, which really hurts Danny Duffy’s potential....

It’s a 10-game evening slate, and you can go a lot of different ways with you lineup building, as there are a bunch of high-end pitching options and a game in Coors Field featuring the Toronto Blue Jays. It will also be interesting to see Colorado’s lineup, as both Trevor Story and DJ LeMahieu will likely to be out after leaving Sunday’s game with injuries. More value options increase the viable winning combinations, thus making tournaments much more interesting. I scale back my DFS play during this time of year because I believe the risk is higher compared to midseason. Due to an abundance of good options, I’m much less confident that my cash-game lineup will win and offset the losses that tournament teams bring more often than not. For that reason, I feel it’s smarter to decrease your play, yet increase the ratio of tournament games to hopefully profit on the volatility....
