What’s interesting is that even though the overall pitching is better in the afternoon games, there are only two lefties going in the five night games. That means fewer splits of which you can take advantage. Most DFS players in FanDuel and DraftKings contests will likely play the evening slate with more of a “straight up” strategy, meaning they’ll just stack Blue Jays against Nathan Eovaldi or Astros against Ian Kennedy....

Mets manager Terry Collins said Friday that the 33-year-old Matsuzaka felt something in his elbow a day earlier. Matsuzaka pitched two innings and gave up three earned runs in the Mets’ 9-1 loss at Milwaukee on Thursday night. “He said when he was loosening up, he could feel it a little bit, thought it was nothing that he couldn’t pitch through, but when the game was over it bothered him pretty good,” Collins said before Friday night’s game against the Brewers....

Amy Earnhardt revealed on Twitter Tuesday morning that she had given birth to daughter Isla Rose. Isla is the first child for the couple, and Dale said last month on the “Dan Patrick Show” that he was thrilled to become a dad at age 43. “I just can’t wait til she gets here, I can’t wait to meet her,” he said, via NASCAR.com. “… During the tour the other day, they took us into one of the rooms and they showed us where the delivery room is and they’ve got that little table there and damn, I about choked up just doing that....

The Cowboys’ practice squad got its first dose of new acquisitions on Wednesday. Coaches are reluctant to let good players go, but the rules regarding the 53-man roster are strict.
