Unlike amiibo in other games, which tend to do helpful things like give players items or refill their health, all the Solaire of Astora amiibo seems to do is let players perform the “Praise the sun!” gesture. Considering the franchise’s reputation for hard-as-nails difficulty, it shouldn’t be surprising that its amiibo isn’t all that helpful.

Solaire of Astora, for those who have yet to play Dark Souls, is an oddly optimistic character in the relatively dark and dreary kingdom of Lordran. Solaire has become a meme of sorts, mainly thanks to his saying “Praise the sun!” In turn, this has led to him becoming one of the more recognizable characters from the Dark Souls series, with references to him in TV shows and other video games.
Solaire of Astora becoming an amiibo should help solidify him as one of the most popular characters from Dark Souls. Anyone looking to pick up the amiibo for themselves will have a chance to do so come May 25, as it will launch alongside the Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered.
However, fans won’t have to wait until May 25 to try Dark Souls Remastered out for themselves. Nintendo also revealed that a network test will take place in the coming months that seems to be open to all Switch owners. Further details on this network test aren’t available at this time, but should come to light as we grow nearer to the game’s release date later this year.
Dark Souls Remastered will be available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 25.
