Now, a new ambitious mod that was released this week has grabbed the attention of the Dark Souls community. The mod, which is titled Daughters of Ash, is a massively expanded version of Dark Souls that contains more content than the original 2011 game. Creator Grimrukh describes his creation as the version of what Dark Souls could have been if FromSoftware was given more time to develop the game.

Although the Daughters of Ash expansion is a fan-created mod, it adds tons of new content to the original game such as new game progression, new bosses, enemies, storylines, weapons, items, secrets, and even expanded lore. Players who are interested in expanding their Dark Souls experience via the Daughters of Ash mod must first have a copy of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on the PC. Grimrukh promises that support for Dark Souls: Remastered is planned for later this year.

In other Dark Souls news, developer FromSoftware revealed in an interview last week that the studio is working on two unannounced games. The announcement did not reveal whether either of the two games in development will be an entry to the Souls franchise. However, FromSoftware’s president, Hidetaka Miyazaki, reassured fans that the upcoming titles will be “From-Software-esque games.”

Lastly, ever since the release of Dark Souls: Remastered to the Nintendo Switch last year, some fans have been wondering whether any of the other entries in the franchise will also grace Nintendo’s hybrid console. Several months ago, speculation about more Dark Souls games heading to the Nintendo Switch surfaced. However, up until today FromSoftware still hasn’t confirmed any of these rumors.

Dark Souls is out now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
