Radcliffe’s breakout role as the iconic boy wizard, Harry Potter, propelled him at just the mere age of 11 to receive an insane amount of attention and fame for his beloved role. He was 22 years old when the famous Harry Potter franchise finally came to end. As the Harry Potter chapter in his life closed, it left a big question mark for fans and himself as to what he was going to do next within his career. For Radcliffe’s next role, he will be portraying Weird Al Yankovic in an upcoming biopic picture. He most recently starred in Paramount’s The Lost City opposite Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock, who is most known for her work in hit films such as Miss Congeniality, Ocean’s 8, Bird Box, and The Blind Side (which won her the 2010 Academy Award for Best Actress). The Lost City made its theatrical debut on March 25th and has since received a successful, promising box office run. The film follows the character of Loretta Stage (Bullock), the author of a popular, long-running series of adventure-romance novels.

Magic Mike star Channing Tatum stars as her cover model, Alan, officially known by fans of the books as ‘Dash.’ Alan sets out to rescue Loretta when he realizes she has been kidnaped by a man named Abigail Fairfax (Radcliffe.) Fairfax is on a mission to discover the ‘Lost City’ and retrieve all of its hidden treasures, and Loretta finds herself caught in the middle of it. In anticipation of the film’s release, the talented trio shared some special moments from their time on set together. Now, Radcliffe has opened up even more regarding his experience of filming The Lost City with Bullock. In a recent interview with Empire, Radcliffe explained how, like most people his age who grew up watching him in movies, he grew up watching Bullock take Hollywood by storm just the same.
“Working with Sandy was a real ‘pinch yourself’ moment, because I did grow up watching her, and have been a fan of hers for so long,” Radcliffe said. “So to actually get to be in a movie with her is still mind-blowing to me.” Radcliffe also mentioned that he now finds it quite strange to re-watch his favorite Bullocks films because he has finally been able to not only meet his idol, but also work closely alongside her.
Many people meet their idols and find themselves immersed in a deep sense of disappointment. The person that they put on a pedestal for so long ends up suddenly falling off their Trojan horse before their very eyes. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case for Radcliffe and Bullock. If anything, it’s evident the two’s mutual adoration and love for one another has only seemed to grow stronger since getting the opportunity to collaborate.
The Lost City is now playing in theaters.
