Following Daniel Craig’s impressive 15-year tenure as James Bond, when the actor has received much acclaim for his portrayal of the iconic role, the search for the next 007 continues. While many believed Lashana Lynch’s Nomi might be taking over the role, as her MI6 character filled in as the new 007 in last year’s No Time to Die, longtime James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli confirmed that Bond will be continued to be played by a man, as she still hopes to see many more films made by women, for women, and about women that create exciting new characters.

With heavy hitters like Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, and Idris Elba at the top of many lists, candidates like Kaluuya have also entered the conversation, but it seems Kaluuya has little interest in stepping into the role. “I’d do a villain,” Kaluuya told Yahoo Entertainment while promoting his upcoming UFO thriller from Jordan Peele, Nope. “I just don’t if I’d want to watch my version of James Bond. That’s just me. That’s just me, I go, ‘I don’t wanna watch that.’ But I’d want to watch a villain. I’d do that. I think that would be fun.”

Kaluuya certainly has that fiery, leading man quality, as presented in his Oscar-winning performance as Black Panther Party activist Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah. However, Kaluuya has also presented audiences with a darker side, as he portrayed a ruthless, violent, and menacing mob enforcer in the crime thriller Widows. Kaluuya has also flexed his intense energy in other critically acclaimed projects such as Get Out, Sicario, Queen and Slim, Black Mirror, as well as Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.

While Kaluuya could easily change his mind if offered the lead 007 role, maybe placing him as the villain would be an even better idea, as a film with a compelling antagonist helps elevate the story. Perhaps other acclaimed actors like Jonathan Majors could become the spy, as celebrities such as singer and songwriter Adele believe the Loki and Creed 3 actor would be the perfect fit for the role.

Until more announcements surface online, Kaluuya is gearing up for the release of what appears to be another critical and box office success with Nope. Reuniting with Peele, Kaluuya plays OJ Haywood, a co-ranch owner who attempts to capture video evidence of a UFO with his sister (Keke Palmer), a tech salesman, and a documentarian after random objects begin falling from the sky.

Nope is now playing in theaters.
